Our History
The Shiloh United Church of Christ Apostolic ( Worldwide) was started on the 8th June 1968 with 8 adults and 44 children, by the founder, Archbishop Malachi Ramsey. The church grew from such small beginnings to be established in 12 countries around the world.
Archbishop Malachi Ramsey’s vision was based on St Mark 16 vs 15 –20 “go into all the world and preach the gospel”. He was mission orientated which gave rise to say he has established many churches abroad, assisting the nationals with his skills and expertise, teaching the Word of God in a practical way and helping them to become self-producers even through his own example as being a visionary and a father in the faith.
Due to his care for humanity, he also began a community project called CARE (Croydon Association Race and Equality). Many people have benefited from this project including the homeless, senior citizens, refugees, immigration issues, youth delinquencies and political issues.
Archbishop Ramsey was very intellectual and ambitious and desired to see his generation educated to the highest level. In so doing, he commenced a correspondence course linked with Selly Oak University in Birmingham. Being an accredited course, many people both at home and abroad benefited from these studies. Some received diploma degrees of which it could be said “we are proud of the achievements of Archbishop Ramsey”.
After being innovative, industrious and a real preacher of the gospel, Archbishop Ramsey decided to step down and pass on the work to Reverend Danny Bennett in 1991.
Pastor Danny Bennett was ordained in 1992 and later was elevated to the Office of the Bishop in 2004. And of course, every leader has his own vision. After a considerable amount of time and challenges, the church started to adapt to the style and leadership of the said leader, which saw different changes in the total outlook of the gospel concerning infrastructure and presentation. Pastor Bennett built on the mandate and blueprint that Archbishop Ramsey had in place.
Now being the Senior Pastor of Shiloh Worship Centre, one of the fastest growing churches in London, Bishop Bennett strives to achieve the vision of seeing the Kingdom of God established here on earth in every area of human lives and began to advance the work in a more strategic way.
